Founded in Rome in 1959 by Renato Balestra, the maison entered a new phase in 2022 under the leadership of his daughters Fabiana and Federica Balestra, and his granddaughter Sofia Bertolli Balestra. With a team of young designers, the brand evolves while honoring its legacy, combining creativity, inclusion, and Made in Italy excellence. Balestra looks to the future while keeping craftsmanship at the core of its vision. A descendant of a family of architects, Renato Balestra came to fashion almost by chance, after studying engineering. His talent was discovered unexpectedly and quickly brought him to Rome, where he became an icon of haute couture. His collections captivated the world, securing his place among the great international designers.

Renato Balestra

Renato Balestra descended from a family of architects and engineers. He began studying Civil Engineering at university; however, from a very young age, he devoted much of his time to artistic pursuits, particularly painting and music. It was only during his final year of engineering studies that he became interested in fashion, creating a collection as part of a bet among friends. Without his knowledge, the work was sent to Milan and, to his great surprise, he was invited to contribute to the creation of a haute couture collection. It was fashion that chose Renato Balestra. The transition from Milan to Rome happened quickly. From Via Sistina, where Balestra had the main location of his boutique, his international fame began to spread with the development and creation of various ventures. Throughout his career, Renato Balestra was invited to present his collections all over the world.

A New Era
